Some celebrities—despite being filthy rich and famous—want more out of life. They want a college education. Or maybe they just want to get some tail and do keg stands.

For whatever reason, a handful of celebrities want to expand their horizons, so they decided to head back to college.

Kudos to them for chasing after a higher education, because I think most of us would settle on ‘Celebrity’ as a career, head to Maui, and sip on Mai Tais for the rest of our lives. But here you have them—5 celebs who went back to college.

James Franco: What college didn’t James Franco attend? The actor went back to the University of California, Los Angeles, to get his honors degree in English. He received his MFA from Columbia in 2010. He’s a PhD student at Yale. He’s also been accepted to the University of Houston’s competitive creative writing program.

Shakira: The Grammy Award Winning, hip-shaking singer went back to school at the University of California to study History of Western Civilization. She reportedly even went by a different name while taking classes so she would be less recognizable.

Shaquille O’Neal: Shaq left school to pursue his NBA career. Not a bad decision, but he promised his mom he would finish his education someday. So in 2000, Shaq graduated with his Bachelor’s in Business from Louisiana State University. In 2005, he earned his Master of Business Education from the University of Phoenix.

Michael Jordan: Michael Jordan is an MVP, All-Star and Slam Dunk Contest Winner, but none of that was enough. He went back to school at North Carolina-Chapel Hill. His degree? Geography.

Steven Spielberg: Steven Spielberg went back to college at the age of 55. He went to Cal State University’s film school. For his thesis, he probably just put in a DVD of Jaws.
